The funeral service for Mr. Earnest Lee Coes will be held Saturday, May 14, 2016, at 11 a.m. at the Trinity United Methodist Church (Pastor Tiffany McCall), 715 Ash Street, Fernandina Beach, FL 32034, Pastor Larry Scott officiating.
Mr. Earnest Lee Coes was born in Vienna, Georgia, to his loving parents, Willie Lee Coes, Sr. and Ira Mae Releford (both preceded him in death). He passed away on May 2, 2016, at the age of 80 years old. He moved to Fernandina Beach, Florida, with his parents at an early age. He attended St. Peter’s Clavers Catholic School and Teck High School. He worked at Container Corporation of America for 33 years until his retirement in 1997. After retirement, he became an “avid traveler,” going on several cruises and “loving life.” Mr. Coes was also an active bible reader and loved “God and Christ.”
He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his devoted wife Joyce Coes; his children Azzie Lee Green, Myra Coes, Donnie Coes, Valerie Lee, Maggie Lee, William Lee, Shonda Holmes, Nikki Coes, Phyliss Ray and Donell Baker; his siblings Evangelist John R. Coes (Nora), Reverend Leonard C. Coes, Ira Lee Walker (Herman); sisters-in-law Doris Mann and Carlyon Shelton and brother-in-law Calvin Shafter; 15 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren, and a number of other loving relatives and friends.
A public viewing will be held at the Huff & Battise Funeral Home on Friday, May 13, 2016, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., and from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of the service on Saturday at the church.
Interment will be held in the Bosque-Bello Cemetery. The cortege will assemble at 10:15 a.m. at 1211 Jasmine Street under the direction of Huff & Battise Funeral Home 410 Beech Street, Fernandina Beach Florida.
