Arthur (Art) Whitney Evans of Fernandina Beach and Cocoa Fl., age 66, was tragically killed in a hit and run accident in Crystal River, FL. on April 27. Art was born on May 11, 1949, raised in Clearfield, PA, and was a proud veteran of the US Air Force, having served from 1968-1971. He was a retired pipefitter and had worked as a skilled craftsman with the United Association of Plumbers and Pipefitters (UA) for over 40 years. He was a member of UA Local 111 in Clearwater/St. Petersburg and later with UA Local 520 in Harrisburg, PA. His work took him across the country many times over and he was a certified nuclear welder. He was an inventive cook, an avid fisherman and NASCAR fan, an accomplished drummer, a first-rate gardener and enjoyed playing Scrabble and doing crosswords. His caring soul and silly humor will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents. He was a loving father to his cherished sons, Cyrus Evans (Amy) of Boalsburg, PA, Ruben Evans of Punxsutawney, PA, Clinton Evans of Fernandina Beach, FL, and daughters Amber DeCosmo (James) of Bellefonte, PA, and Bayde Evans of Fernandina Beach, FL. He also leaves to mourn his passing 2 brothers: Martin Evans (Deb) of Chesapeake, VA, William Evans of Cocoa, FL; a sister, Renee Ferretti (Steve) of Frederick, MD; and a grandson, Colvin Evans.
