Michael Joseph “Bo” Turner, 47, of Yulee passed away Monday, September 25, 2017.

A son of Kathy J. Turner and the late Windle J. Turner, he was born in Jacksonville but spent nearly all his life in Fernandina Beach and Yulee. He graduated from Fernandina Beach High School and spent most of his working career as a roofer for Coastal Building Systems. However, it was his lifelong dream to work on the railroad and he interrupted his career with Coastal Building Systems to work for First Coast Railroad for four years. During that time, he held the position of conductor and thoroughly enjoyed his time with trains.

Bo was always good at working with his hands and could build or fix anything he tried to work on. Everyone who knew him always said he was a “born natural” with anything mechanical.

Bo was a diehard Florida Gator fan and he would always make sure he was near a television when the Gators took to the field. He also loved watching WWE wrestling with his children. Bo’s family knew him as a hard-working man who often had to work long hours but loved and cherished the time he could spend with them.

In addition to his father, he was also predeceased by a brother, Benjamin Tyler Turner.

His surviving family includes his children, Melinda Smith and her husband, Michael, of Fernandina Beach, Megan Turner and Michael J. Turner, Jr., both of St. Marys, and Cassadee Turner of Kingsland; his mother, Kathy J. Turner of Yulee; his three grandchildren, Layla Turner and Lexie and Logan Smith, all of Fernandina Beach; his sisters, Michelle Davis and her husband, Jeff, of Blackshear and Lisa Nickless and her husband, Darby, of Fernandina Beach; his brother, James Turner and his wife, Heather, of Yulee; as well as nieces, nephews and several other extended family members.

Services to remember Bo’s life will be held at 5 p.m. Saturday, October 7, 2017, in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard.
