Maurice Armour Goff, 95, loving father, passed away peacefully on November 8, 2017 in Fernandina Beach, Fla. He was born on September 21, 1922 in Portland, Mich. He was the son of Russell Alger Goff and Augusta Joy Armour and the brother of Warren Russell and Florence Audrey Goff.
Dad was a World War II veteran who served in the Army Signal Corp as a radar technician. He was assigned a post on Saipan and Guam supporting Air Force security. He was honorably discharged with numerous citations and decorations as a second lieutenant. After World War II, the GI Bill allowed Dad to attend college at the University of Michigan. Go Wolverines! Go Blue! He was on a blind date when he met the love of his life, Barbara Ann Walsh. Together they shared and nurtured eight children during 67 years of marriage. Dad’s career was engineering, specifically the development of air conditioning and refrigeration technology. He worked for Gibson Refrigerators, American Motors, Ford, Jaguar and Volkswagen during his long career. Many of his engineering ideas are incorporated into the current air conditioning models. He was an intelligent, insightful scientist.
Dad leaves behind his eight children, Thomas (Jennifer) of Winter Haven, Fla., Dan (Susan) of Hayesville, N.C., Robert of Kodiak, Alaska, Mary Jessen (Mark) of Dripping Springs, Texas, Nancy Duggan (Paul) of Andrews, N.C., Susan Lenchek (Michael) of Rochester, Mich., Michael (Li Rong) of New Zealand, and Maureen Goff (Tim) of Seattle, Wash.
