Mr. Roscoe Harris Mullis, 81, of Kingsland, Ga., passed away in the late evening hours of Wednesday, November 8, 2017 at Hospice of the Golden Isles in Brunswick, Ga.

Mr. Mullis was born on May 15th, 1936 in Dexter, Ga. to Fonzo and Louise Mullis.

Mr. Mullis spent his childhood in Fernandina Beach, Fla. and earned his accounting degree at South Georgia in Douglas, Ga. and Georgia State, a division of UGA in Atlanta, Ga. After graduation, he worked in Atlanta and also served in the U.S. Army. In 1964, he relocated his family to Kingsland, where he practiced at his CPA firm until retirement in 2009.

Mr. Mullis loved Camden County and enjoyed every opportunity to participate in the community – through civic and church activities, philanthropic endeavors, and mentoring others. He strived to live every day to its fullest and to do what he could to make this world, and his community, a better place.

During his time in Kingsland, Mr. Mullis was an active Camden County Booster – supporting high school athletics and numerous sporting programs. He enjoyed serving as the statistician for the CCHS football teams for more than 25 years. He was an avid University of Georgia football fan, spending many weekends following the Dawgs at home and away games. Nothing pleased him more than any excuse to head to Athens to see the Dawgs play in any sport.

He is predeceased by his brother, Ray Mullis of Fernandina Beach, Fla.

A visitation was held for Mr. Mullis from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, November 12, 2017, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church in St. Marys, Ga. A Funeral Mass was held at the church at noon Monday, November 13, 2017 with Father Mariusz Fuks presiding. Interment was held at St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery in Bowling Green, Ky.
