Gary Lynn Fierro, 59, of Fernandina Beach, Fla., passed away Saturday, November 25, 2017 at his residence.
Born in Washington, D.C., Gary was a son of the late retired U.S. Air Force Major Lawrence R. Fierro and Marolyn Templeton Rogers.
As the son of a career officer, Gary lived in varied locations during his youth but more importantly formed a deep and abiding respect for the military. He held on to that respect for all of his life.
Having retired from his career as a stockbroker, he moved to Fernandina Beach from Jacksonville in 2007 to care for his mother after his stepfather, retired U.S. Navy Rear Admiral Robert “Bob” Rogers, passed away. Gary was a good friend to all who knew him and he will be remembered for being the loving son and brother that he was.
He leaves behind his mother, Marolyn Rogers of Fernandina Beach; a sister, Sandy Lee Fierro of Fernandina Beach; his one true love, Brenda Rein of Jacksonville Beach; his step-siblings, Katy Rogers Peterson of Virginia Beach, Va. and John Rogers of Indian Land, S.C.; many good and dear friends including David Genchura; and several close cousins who lived near his family’s home place in Statesville, N.C. as well as other cousins in California.
There will be a private family service at a later date.
