“I remember the ebb and flow of the ocean. Your smile and the warm kissed love in your embrace. Your exuberance for life was only surpassed by the joy you brought to those who shared in your company. When I look back on my childhood, your face emerges from the sand and is carved in the shells I find among the lines in the waves. You were a true friend to all who knew you, a brother, husband, uncle and son. I will miss every word we will never get to speak, every hug we will never get to share, and through the years when I visit the sea, your face will always be shining upon the horizon.” – a poem by Jessica Hope Ryals

Patricia (Pat) Ann Welch, 81 and born Patricia Ann Palmer, joined our Lord on November 3, 2017 at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Fla. after a long illness.

Pat established a private kindergarten, Miss Pat's Playhouse, in Gray, Ga., where she lived for many years and is still remembered by her former pupils. She was a pillar member of Gray United Methodist Church, where she was head of children's ministries and sang in the choir. During the 1980s and 1990s, she established a real estate and brokerage agency, operating primarily in Macon, Ga. and Atlanta, Ga.

She has been active in the local community, serving as an ambassador for the Fernandina Beach Chamber of Commerce and a member of Leadership Nassau alumni. She was a dedicated member of the Amelia Plantation Chapel, serving as a church deacon, and was a member of several Bible studies.

She was devoted to her family and friends, but more importantly, she was a devoted ambassador for our Lord.

Mrs. Welch is survived by her husband, H. Oliver Welch; her four children, Peggy (Tate) Williams, Nancy (Tate) Haskins, Kenneth Tate, and Catherine Tate. She was also the proud grandmother to 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
