Mrs. Phebia Jefferson

Mrs. Phebia Jefferson, 65, Yulee, passed away on Friday morning, June 30, 2017, at the Brookdale Atrium Center for Caring in Jacksonville.

Born in Yulee, she was the eldest of three children born to the late Ella Mae Beverly and Freddie Hubbard.   She was a lifelong resident of Yulee, where she attended elementary school at Bryant Academy and Peck High School in Fernandina Beach, class of 1970. Phebia worked at the Amelia Island Plantation before beginning a 26-year career as a paraprofessional with the Nassau County School District. During her career, she worked with children with special needs at Yulee Middle School. While working in public education, she also worked part-time at Wal-Mart as a sales associate. Phebia later worked with the Boys & Girls Club of Nassau County.

Mrs. Jefferson enjoyed cooking, spending time with her family and church family. A longtime, faithful member of the Solid Rock Church of God by Faith of Yulee, she taught Sunday school, formerly participated in the food ministry and was a choir member. She also served as church secretary.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Franklin C. Jefferson Sr., deceased 1984. Mrs. Jefferson leaves to cherish her memories a son, Franklin C. “Frank” Jefferson Jr.  (Tiffany), Yulee; a brother, Joseph Leonard Beverly (Gina), St. Marys, Ga.; a sister, Delores Lewis-Williams (Benjamin), Eastpoint, Ga.; a stepsister, Nancy Selby; a loving and concerned cousin reared in her childhood home, B. Beverly Hall; uncles, Melvin Hubbard and Andrew Hubbard. Jr.; aunts, Susie Davis, Mary Wallace and Marie Clark; grandchildren, Breonna Jefferson, Kevin Williams, Cameron Myers, Donavan Kelley and Haylei Kelley; Godchildren, Jeremy McIntyre and Amanda Jefferson; nephews, Patrick J. Tyler and G. Shaun Mason; a host of loved ones and friends; special friends, Gwendolyn McIntyre, Debbie Carter and Jamie Thompson; extended family, Leo, Ida, Gwendolyn, Kathy and Leo Jr. (the Greens).

Viewing will be held 5-7 p.m. Friday, July 7, 2017 at Solid Rock Church of God by Faith.

Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the Solid Rock Church of God by Faith with Pastor Elder Harry Johnson presiding.

She will be laid to rest in Whispering Pine Cemetery, Yulee.

The repast will follow at her church.
