Mrs. Betty Carolyn Weldon, 80, Yulee, passed away on Tuesday morning, July 11, 2017 at the Community Hospice & Palliative Care’s Warner Center for Caring in Fernandina Beach, Fla.
Born in Tifton, Ga., she was the daughter of the late James Harris Parrish and Addie Selph Parrish. In 1955, she married James Carl Weldon and relocated to Fernandina Beach. Mrs. Weldon worked as a secretary in the maintenance department for the Nassau County School Board until retiring.
She enjoyed fishing, traveling, gardening and time spent with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Weldon and her husband were active members and instrumental in the bus ministry at the Nassau Baptist Temple.
She leaves behind her husband of 62 years, James Carl Weldon; a son, Randy Weldon, Yulee; two daughters, Bonnie Dawson, Yulee, and Donna Blocker, Yulee; a brother, James E. Parrish (Laura), Fernandina Beach; two sisters, Margaret Bolt (Charlie), Destin, Fla. and Evelyn Portier (Ed), Hayesville, N.C.; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be at 5 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2017 in the Burgess Chapel of Oxley-Heard with Pastor Larry Montgomery officiating.
Her family will receive friends on Thursday from 4 p.m. until the hour of the service at the funeral home.
