Gerald (Jerry) McClain, 82, of Valdosta, Ga. passed on Friday, September 29, 2017, at South Georgia Medical Center following a short illness.
He was born on February 7, 1935 in St. Louis, Mo. to the late Orville and Florence Mesplay McClain.
He was a veteran of the United States Army and was employed as a supervisor with Slone Associates. Mr. McClain loved golfing and camping, and his woodworking skills were widely known. He was a member of Lake Park Church of God.
Survivors include his wife, Janice Tiner McClain of Valdosta; four sons, Steve McClain, Michael McClain, David McClain and Danny McClain; his brother, Vernon McClain of Garfield, Ark.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert and Judy Tiner, and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Joyce and Peyton Bradley, all of Fernandina Beach; several nieces and nephews; and his friends and co-workers at Slone Associates.
Services for Gerald (Jerry) McClain will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at the Lake Park Church of God in Lake Park, Ga. with Rev. Keith Sandlin officiating. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. at the church. A private family committal will take place in Bosque Bello Cemetery.
